Frequently asked questions
Do you have questions about how to buy or receive avocados from Malaga in Switzerland? Check out the frequently asked questions here to make your experience easier.
How can I buy avocados in Malaguese?
You can place your order directly on our website by selecting the desired quantity. We work with fresh deliveries and guarantee freshly harvested avocados from Malaga delivered to Switzerland in just a few days.
Do you take orders from retail and wholesale customers?
Yes, we offer services to both private customers and wholesalers and distributors. Get in touch with us for special conditions on large orders.
What is the estimated delivery time?
We harvest to order and ship orders in batches directly from our family farm in Málaga to Switzerland. Transport is temperature-controlled and uses recyclable packaging to ensure the fruit arrives protected. After dispatch, delivery usually takes between 5 and 7 days to your address. For sustainability reasons, we group orders together; we currently ship monthly, but hope to be able to ship every two weeks soon.
Is avocado farming sustainable?
Yes. On our farm, we only use certified organic products and do not use pesticides. To irrigate the avocados, we use both water from the Bermuza River, which runs through the farm, and rainwater, which we collect and store in a reservoir for use during the months when water is less available. In addition, we have an efficient drip irrigation system that delivers water directly to the roots, optimising its use and avoiding waste.
What are the benefits of buying directly from our farm?
Direct from our farm means: guaranteed origin, harvested to order, naturally ripened and short transport distances. What's more, you are supporting the local economy, our family business and the responsible use of resources.
How does an avocado ripen?
Avocados ripen on the tree, but only reach their peak flavour after harvesting. Depending on the variety and temperature, further ripening usually takes approximately 10–15 days. Refrigeration slows down this process.
Can you speed up the ripening of avocados?
Yes, if avocados are kept in temperature-controlled chambers with high humidity, they will ripen sooner, but not naturally. At Malaguese, we do not use ripening chambers.
Do all avocados ripen at the same time?
No. Even if avocados are harvested on the same day, they do not all ripen at exactly the same time; there may be a difference of about 3 to 4 days between them. To ripen naturally, simply leave them at room temperature. If you want to slow down the ripening process, store them in a cool place (approximately 8 to 12°C). Once an avocado is ready to eat, you can store it in the refrigerator to keep it in good condition for a few more days.
What happens if an avocado arrives in poor condition?
